Supporting the whole family through change.
Separation affects more than legal arrangements. Our family wellbeing offering provides access to professional support for the emotional, relational and practical challenges that can accompany family transitions.

The Family Wellbeing Program
A complimentary assessment and a plan that fits your family.
Florens Family Law clients can access a complimentary initial Family Wellbeing Assessment and a personalised wellbeing plan, subject to current eligibility and availability.
The assessment helps identify your wellbeing needs and the support options that may help. It is not a legal assessment or a forensic parenting evaluation.
If you would like ongoing support, you agree a package and frequency with Karly O’Shea, our family wellbeing practitioner, in person or online. There is no obligation to continue.
Karly holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy. Her support is separate from your legal advice.

Working alongside your legal team
Your lawyer advises on the law. Your wellbeing practitioner supports you as a person and a parent. Where it would help, and only with your informed consent, they can coordinate so your legal strategy and your wellbeing pull in the same direction.
- Professionally distinct. Legal and psychological services are separate. Wellbeing support does not replace legal advice, and it sits outside any court process.
- Nothing shared automatically. Confidential clinical information is not passed to your lawyer. Your lawyer only knows what you agree to share, within the limits the law sets, including child safety.
- Your choice. You decide whether to use wellbeing support, and you can stop at any time.
- Not a court expert. Karly is not an independent expert or family consultant, and she does not prepare reports for court.
Florens Psychology & Wellbeing
Our sister practice, Florens Psychology & Wellbeing, delivers the Positive Co-Parenting Program. It is also where children’s own support is arranged, and where joint support for both parents is provided, by a practitioner who is not involved in your wellbeing support.
It is a separate practice, with its own fees and its own confidentiality obligations.

Is wellbeing support compulsory?
No. Wellbeing support is entirely optional. It is there if and when it helps, and you can stop at any time.
What happens during the initial assessment?
Karly gets to know you, your children and what would help most, then talks you through the support options. The assessment is complimentary for Florens Family Law clients, with no obligation to continue. It is not a legal assessment or a forensic parenting evaluation.
Will my lawyer receive information from my psychologist?
Only what you agree to share. Confidential clinical information is not shared automatically. With your consent, your lawyer and your wellbeing practitioner can keep each other informed, so your support and your legal strategy work together.
Can I use my existing psychologist?
Yes. Our wellbeing support is optional, so you are free to keep working with your own psychologist or counsellor. If you would like them and your lawyer to be in touch, that only happens with your consent.
Is ongoing support available?
Yes. After your assessment, and only if you wish, you agree a support package with Karly at a frequency that suits you, such as weekly, fortnightly or around key points in your matter, in person or online.
What does ongoing support cost?
It depends on the support and frequency you choose. Karly explains the options after your assessment, and you will know the cost before you commit. The Positive Co-Parenting Program is charged separately by Florens Psychology & Wellbeing.
